Through its PhD International Scholarships in Chemistry in New Zealand for the academic year 2022-2023, the University of Auckland is providing financial support to high-achieving candidates.
This grant is for research to combine organic chemistry and peptide synthesis to produce innovative anti-Phytophthora compounds. The chosen candidate will be based at the University of Auckland’s School of Chemical Sciences and will be overseen by A/Prof. Viji Sarojini.

It was originally housed in a decommissioned courthouse. It began with 95 students and four faculty members: Frederick Douglas Brown, professor of chemistry (London and Oxford), Algernon Phillips Withiel Thomas, professor of natural sciences (Oxford), Thomas George Tucker, professor of classics (Cambridge), and William Steadman Aldis, professor of mathematics (Cambridge). By 1901, the number of students had increased to 156, with the majority of these students studying to become law clerks or teachers and were enrolled part-time. Since 1905, an increasing number of students have enrolled in commerce studies.
