PhD applicants who are highly motivated and desire to conduct their research in New Zealand are encouraged to apply for the PhD Positions in Food and Future Landscapes offered by Food Transitions 2050. Applications are now being accepted for the academic year 2022-2023.
The PhD scholarship is available to all domestic and international students who are enrolled in a PhD program at a New Zealand university or college of their choosing at the time of application. A tuition fee and an annual stipend will be paid to the selected individuals.

The Joint Postgraduate School Food Transitions 2050 is a new research collaboration the University of Canterbury (UC), Lincoln University (LU), Plant & Food Research, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, and AgResearch, all of which are based in Canterbury.
The theme of Food Transitions 2050 is food sustainability. The school’s main goal is to help people make the shift to more future-oriented, sustainable food systems and preparation by 2050. The goal is to make the PhD student experience as uniform as possible across the School, and work is currently underway to further harmonise the two universities’ PhD requirements.
All domestic and international students resident in New Zealand at the time of application to a Ph.D. programme at a New Zealand university or college of their choice are eligible for the Ph.D. scholarship. A tuition fee as well as a yearly stipend will be levied to the selected candidates.
The Food Transitions 2050 Joint Postgraduate School is a new joint venture involving the University of Canterbury (UC), Lincoln University (LU), Plant & Food Research, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, and AgResearch, all of which are located in Canterbury.
